This will be their first single release since 2022, and they're really very excited! ❤️🎶
'Scapegoat' is a cuttingly satirical song about the 'let's blame somebody else' culture, all too prevalent at the moment, again, tragically. It will be included in a forthcoming second satirical album, 'Discovering the Pensioner Within', due out in 2027.
SCAPEGOAT
We’re going to the dogs, I’m very sad to say.
John Bull’s on the dole, rule Britannia’s in the grave.
Our Brexit boom is now a mid-slump gloom;
Violence on the streets begins to loom.
We’re going to the dogs, we’re going down a hole.
Four hundred thousand homeless,
A million on the dole.
The country is in crisis, the nation is in shame.
And now the need arises to allocate the blame.
And history will advise us to play the scapegoat game.
CHORUS
So, come you politicians, come and play a game,
Find yourself a scapegoat to allocate the blame.
Ignore a rotten system that daily brings us down,
Pay homage to the scapegoat for service to the crown.
It’s the Muslims, the gypsies, the robots, the reds,
Hiding in our wardrobes, creeping in our beds.
For many it’s the migrants, moving here in mobs;
Stealing all the houses and taking all the jobs.
‘They come over here with their work ethic, it’s disgusting.’
You may remember Adolf, he died in forty-five,
But only after taking six million Jewish lives.
To fight for lebensraum he had to stir the German pride.
He used them as a scapegoat, a way to justify
His rising to authority, his power to divide.
CHORUS
So, come you gutter journalists, come and play a game,
Find yourself a scapegoat to allocate the blame.
Ignore a rotten system that daily brings us down,
Pay homage to the scapegoat for service to the crown.
It’s the Chinese, the chubbies,
Drive the scroungers back.
Blame it on the Martians,
The pink, the blue, the black.
And as the private banker,
Is leaving in his plane.
He’s off to move his money into properties in Spain.
He sips a cold martini rejoicing once again,
That people in Britannia play the scapegoat game.
